What’s happening at the Co-op…..

The Co-op will be OPEN on Tuesdays from 3.00 – 5.00 from next week……we closed on Tuesday’s in the winter months but now that Spring has Sprung we are opening the Co-op doors for more opportunities to shop…YAY!
Fresh produce available this week at the Co-op:  local Seville oranges, organic beetroot, salad mix, organic meiflower potatoes, organic sweet grey pumpkin, organic red splendour apples, garlic and organic baby fennel.

What’s in the vegie box/bag……

Thanks to volunteers Kim Creef, Kate Wilson, Joyce Reed and Nathalie Laurence for helping pack today…..the growers delivered lots of lush spring goodness for the boxes and bags today…enjoy!
As Spring is the leanest time of year for our growers, many things are growing but not necessarily ready yet….we may have to substitute vegies with whole foods, preserves or for this week some delightful wildflower honey for the boxes.

What’s in the box/bag this week…..

Thanks to volunteers Lynnette and Graeme Lakin and Douglas Lumb for helping pack today….another brilliant job done with much laughter!
The FN boxes and bags got cabbage and the weekly boxes got baby silver beet this week.
For those of you who have a swede lurking in your fridge and you are unsure of what to do with it???  Last night I cooked up Swede hash browns with poached eggs and the family loved it!! read more....

What’s on at the Co-op……

Winter is a delightful time to sit by a cosy fire and crack some nuts with friends and family,
the Tamar Valley new season whole walnuts are available at the Co-op…..We also stock Byron Bay macadamias, pistachios, almonds, brazil nuts, peanuts, walnut pieces, cashews, and pine nuts.

Tamar Valley Organics are based in the Northern part of Tasmania, next to the scenic Tamar River. Check out their lovely website.

Fruit Tree Pruning
with Ted Domeney

Date: Saturday 18th June
Time: 9.30am-12.30pm
Cost: $35 for members ($50 for non-members – includes membership)
Bookings Essential – Limit – 12 people

Requirements are to bring a pair of good secateurs, a pruning saw if you have one (but don’t buy one specially), gloves and stout footwear.

What’s in the vegie box/bag this week……..

Thanks to volunteers Nathalie Laurence, Stan Sheppard and Joyce Reed for helping pack today….the boxes were very colourful and fresh with much variety for the whole family.

The Feijoas are a delight! Wait until soft to touch then simply cut in half and scoop out with a spoon or peel and eat whole.

What Fresh produce is available at the Co-op this week?
Baby spinach, Broccoli, beetroot, garlic, pumpkin, salad mix, “Purple” carrots, orange carrots, Desiree potatoes, Russian Banana potatoes, King Edward potatoes, and Geeveston elephant potatoes.

What’s in the vegie box/bag this week…….beetroot with leaves, broccoli, purple carrots, garlic, dutch cream potatoes, pumpkin and mixed mushroom punnets. The box has extra rhubarb, swede, hakurei turnip and lettuce loose leaves. The bags have extra salad mix.

Cam’s bread is back at the Co-op….YAY!

The Co-op had the most delicious smell of home baked bread last week…..Cam the bread man from Cygnet delivered his bounty Friday lunchtime; Crusty spelt bread, olive bread, six grain loaves, sourdough and rye, Italian Ciabatta, and the yummiest focaccia’s with red onion and cherry tomatoes baked on top….Most of the loaves were sold by 4pm!
